Croatia

DUBROVNIK

THINGS TO DO

Walk the city walls: For a small fee you can walk the entire city walls. The sea of Terra Cota and view can’t be beat.

Cliff Jumping: Relax on the rocks or choose to jump. Water shoes recommended.

Take the cable car: Make sure you don’t miss sunset.

Dune Buggies: Fun, but quite dusty! Explore the countryside of Dubrovnik.

Head to the beach: There’s so many beaches. St. Jacobs is a great one that’s hidden away and down flights of stairs.

PLACES TO DRINK

Skybar: Don’t miss out on the buckets of booze this place offers.

Revelin: This huge nightclub has an equally huge flight of stairs for you to fall down upon your 4 a.m. departure.

HVAR

THINGS TO DO

Hike to the top of the fortress: This quick, steep walk boasts amazing views. You can pay to get in, but there’s really no need.

PLACES TO DRINK

Hula Hula: Sunny, day party spot on the beach.

Nautica Bar: Like your shots on fire? This place is for you.

Carpe Diem: Expensive, but out of this world. Hop on a boat to this crazy house-music party scene that goes into the morning.

KORCULA

THINGS TO DO

Visit Marco Polo’s birthplace: Although this point is an argument between the Croatians and Italians, many say Marco Polo was born in Korcula.

PLACES TO DRINK

Massimo: This cocktail bar is at the top of an old fortress. You’ll  have to climb up a tiny ladder to get there, but the views of the sea are amazing.

Dos Locos: What happens on the pole at Dos Locos, stays on the pole at Dos Locos.

MAKARSKA

THINGS TO DO

Canyoning: Can be breezy and cold, but extremely exciting. Spend a few hours floating down a river, jumping off rocks, and climbing through tunnels.

PLACES TO DRINK

Cave Bar: This bar is one of a kind. “Cave Bar” may not be it’s official name, but it’s right on the beach and it’s just how the name describes it. If you go for a late night dip, watch for urchins!

SPLIT

THINGS TO DO

Day trip to Krka: Only an hour away, the Krka Waterfalls are amazing. Unlike Plitvice National Parks, you can swim in the water!

Rent bikes: Rent bikes in town and head to Park Suma Marjan. There’s tons of hidden beaches. We highly recommend getting a cabana at Plaza Kasjuni for super cheap.

Walk the Promenade: A sunset here is unlike any other.

Day trip to the Blue Caves: A long jet boat ride away, you can coast through beautiful glowing caves.

Wander the markets: Split has fresh fruits and veggies, super corny touristy gifts, and awesome local trinkets.

PLACES TO EAT

Brasserie on 7: Crisp white fish, located right on the promenade and has above-par service with buzzer buttons. They team up with Hostel Booze and Snooze for a 10% discount.

Luke’s Ice Cream: We know, there’s gelato everywhere. But I promise you, this stuff is the best.

Restaurant Dvor: Upscale, outdoor restaurant with incredible views.

Tip: Get the black risotto! It’s a Croatian specialty

PLACES TO DRINK

Charlie’s Bar: It’s a backpacker bar. It’ll be overflowed with drunken twenty somethings, but it’s cheap and fun. A good start to the night.

Inbox: This outdoor bar is ridiculously fun. On any given night they have a a live DJ, electronic music, and lights flashing through the trees.

Terminal F: Careful, this place has one of the best Vodka-Redbull concoctions we’ve ever tasted. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Zenta: If you want to stay up till 5 a.m. dancing in a club environment, this is the place for you.

Club Vanilla: Last party stop on Yacht Week, Friday’s are guaranteed wild. Bottle service is available if you want to ball out.

PLACES TO STAY

Booze and Snooze Hostel: This is the party hostel. Guaranteed to host a pre-game, bar crawl, and people who want to drink. Don’t be surprised if you’re woken up late at night. Front desk was super friendly and they have great deals with local restaurants and bars. PS: you’re not locked in the bathroom, the doors slide.

Split Central Silver Hostel: This hostel is right off the promenade next to a tourism agency for quick bookings and multiple gelato shops. Clean, quiet, and an overall good place to stay.

TRANSPORTATION

Uber: All of Croatia has Uber, but it’s important to note they also have Uber Water. Yes, it’s pricey, but if you’re willing to splurge taking a boat as a taxi is pretty awesome.

To/From the Airport: Take the bus. Don’t get ripped off by young guys cutting you a deal – it’s not that much faster. The bus costs less than $5 and can be booked on the spot. You can also reserve in advance from their office in Split, which we would recommend because they can fill up.
